Mistee's Baby Shower [San Luis Obispo Family Photography]

My friend Dawn hired me to shoot Mistee's baby shower was at her home in San Miguel. Well actually it was across the street in the open field. Although it was really windy in San Miguel that day, it was still a fantastic baby shower. Mistee looked amazing! I hope if I ever get pregnant I look that good. My friends and family are probably rolling on the ground laughing at that statement :)

Family Portraits with Holly, Steve and Lance [San Luis Obispo Photography]

Holly called me for a children/family portrait session for Holiday Greeting Cards. I met them at their beautiful house in Santa Margarita Ranch. Over the years of shooting kids sometimes it's easier and more fun if you just let them be themselves, shot a lot and wait for the right moments. This is why all my portrait session involving younger kids are at least 2 hours. Lance was in a particularly opinionated mood about his wardrobe and which shots he wanted to do. He wanted to play football and needed to wear his "football shirt" and helmet. Eventually we got the helmet off and took a few cute portraits but the helmet shots are really hilarious! Side note: Holly and Steve are the couple that got me started as a wedding photographer 7+ years ago.

Paulsen Family Portraits [San Luis Obispo Photography]

Ok so I'm willing to admit it, I'm a little tired of the all white shirts on the beach look for portraits. It's cute but when you shoot it all the time it gets boring. These guys really mixed it up. They decided that each family would were a different colored shirt. They came to Pismo from Orange County. Originally I thought I wouldn't be able to do their session because I had already moved to San Francisco but since the Central Coast Fashion Week documentary premiere was the night before I was happy to be able to shoot this session. They had 4 small children, so it was a little more work than usual to get everyone to look at the camera and not cry. In the end we got a lot of great shots.

Brooks Family Portraits [San Luis Obispo Photography]

The Brooks family came to Pismo Beach from Fresno, CA for a family vacation with the Grand Parents and some extended family and friends. We did a morning portrait session at the North side of Pismo Beach. There are a lot of areas to work with on this side of the beach. Even though I do a lot of portraits there I always seem to find ways to get something different at each session.

Dunlap Family Portraits [San Luis Obispo Photography]

The Dunlap family came from Sonora, CA to Pismo Beach for a family vacation. They asked me to shoot a family portrait session and some a few senior portraits for their daughter to add to the ones she got through her school. These guys were great! Because they stayed on point and did exactly what I asked, we were done in half the time a normal portrait session takes.

Hardcastle Family Portraits [San Luis Obispo Photography]

The Hardcastle Family came to Pismo Beach for a summer vacation and contacted me to have a Family Portrait session during their visit. We met at Wilmar Street and walked down the wooden stairs to the south side of Pismo Beach. They had a baby and two smaller girls so it took a little work to get smiles out of everyone. I photographed the extended family together as well as each individual family's portrait.

Bowser Family Portraits [Monterey Photography]

It's been a busy few months for Portrait sessions. I'm really happy this part of my business is taking off. Christine was in town for the Big Sur Marathon and her family came to support her. She decided she wanted to have a portrait session in beautiful Carmel Beach to remember the trip. We started at the Carmel Forest Lodge, where they were staying, and worked our way down to the beach, hitting several great spots along the way. Carmel has so much to work with, I could spend all day there.
